Shirdi Temple closed indefinitely

Shirdi: The Sai Baba Sansthan Trust Corporation has announced that the Sai Baba temple in Shirdi will be closed indefinitely from Sunday, January 19, amid controversy over Sai Baba's birthplace. Several national media outlets reported that a trusted member made the announcement Friday. It is clear that all the villagers of Shirdi will be meeting on Saturday evening to discuss further action. However, devotees who visit the temple are careful not to cause any discomfort.

The birth of Sai Baba, a paternal figure has opened a new controversy with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray allocating Rs 100 crore for urban development. There is concern that Shiridi's propaganda will be diminished.On the latest controversy, the Shirdi villagers and the Baba Trust responded that their concern was not to fund the development of the patri, but to dispute Sai's birthplace.
